Night & Day
The Ev is a chameleon
- changing subtly thoughout the day and evening to match
the mood of our clients and the 'feel' of the time of
day.
Lunchtimes are normally bright and breezy. Customers come and go - most grabbing
a bite to eat and a quick drink before dashing back to work. Some prefer a light
snack in the quieter atmosphere of the newly refurbished Foyer Bar on the ground
floor
open 10 - 2 and from an hour before shows until 11pm. |

Between 2pm and 5pm the Bistro is very quiet and relaxed: students
putting off writing their thesis and professors putting off
marking work. Shoppers recovering from the cut and thrust of
bargain hunting and regulars who
more or less live here!
The evening rush starts at round 5.30 and we're usually busiest at 6.30. By 8
it's quietened down again for a while. The food can be almost sold out by
8pm so get here early!
At 8 ish the lights go down and the tables are candlelit. Although food is available
until closing, we become more of a bar than a restaurant after 8 and by 11pm
the room is full of conversation and laughter. We don't play loud music - nobody
would listen anyway.
We have three rooms: the main bar, the food room and the 3rd room. The bar is
the most lively and noisy and the 3rd Room the quietest
unless there is live
music in there (which there often is from round 10pm Friday/Saturday).
