About the Everyman

The Everyman Bistro was founded 35 years ago by Paddy Byrne and Dave Scott – later to be joined by Tim Byrne . In the basement of the old ‘Hope Hall’ with little more than a domestic cooker and a trestle table or two Paddy and Dave turned out food that had never been seen in Liverpool (or anywhere else) before at that time: fresh food made with prime ingredients at low prices. 35 years later we still offer some of the best food (and the best value food) in the country. Where else can you get three fantastic courses in large portions for about £15. Nowhere, that’s where! Similar dishes elsewhere can cost more than £15 for the main course alone.

How do we offer such good value. Our food is cooked fresh during the day and displayed on our counter. You can see what you’re getting and when you’ve chosen your food will be reheated. Lot’s of expensive restaurants have the same system – they just aren’t so open about it!

Whenever possible we buy ingredients from top local producers. Our supplies arrive fresh every day and everything is cooked from scratch on the premises – including our famous puddings. We have a wide selection of vegetarian and gluten-free dishes. Click here for more details.

The Everyman Bistro is one of only three venues in Liverpool to get the top A* rating in The 2007 Hardman's Guide. This '*' is awarded for very good food and the 'A' for very good ambience… and the other two will charge you a lot more!

In fact we are highly recommended in every major guide for food and drink.

The Bistro is beneath the famous Everyman Theatre and there is always an eclectic mix of students, professors, ‘media’ types, local celebrities and locals. The Bistro’s partners actually own the Theatre building but the theatre is managed separately.
